Results Pathway – Thinking
Thinking, we do it every day, hundreds of times and most of the time we are unaware that we are doing it. Our habits drive us in all areas of our life. The same patterns over and over again. The same results over and over again. Now this result may, for some things, i.e. brushing your teeth or driving to work using the same route for the last 20 years, be OK, but for other, probably not. Blogging Tips
Funny… The latest definition of BLOG = Better Listing On Google.
Blogging is the act of posting information on an "online log book" (web blog) or adding (posting) comments to someone else’s blog. It is a type of website maintained with very regular commentaries, event descriptions, or other useful information on video. It is very popular as it enables everybody world wide to "talk" online on anything under the sun. For small businesses, it is one of the most effective way to build your business online if you post frequently on popular and useful topics that encourages your readers or provide useful advice.
Search Engines like Google and Yahoo have their "spider" crawl the sites to look for new contents or visitor comments to include it on their index. This is great for businesses as it will push your blog to the top of Goggle’s top pages.
Some of key points to note when you are blogging (The 3 As)
Audience
Target your Audience and be specific in your discussion, providing first hand information or your own personal experience. "How to" books sell very well online as the world becomes more computer literate and information is just a few key strokes.
Automation
Be Persistent and have an automatic schedule that enables your posting to be activated even when you are on holidays. It is tedious and very hard work but it is worth the effort and time well spent.
Authority Blogs
Look for Authority Blogs in your particular niche. Make relevant comments and be constructive and provide useful feedback
Keep on blogging and don’t give up. The plans of the diligent lead to profit.
Website Design
Your business website is your shop front display. It is vital to ensure that it looks good yet simple to move from page to page especially for your clients who may be baby boomers and not internet savvy.
Some of the pages that I would include in a basic website are :
Contact Page – For your potential clients to include their personal details if they need further information about your products or services.
About – Who are you, your contact details and what you stand for – value, mission, goals and what your business stands for.
Services/Products – List your services and/or products and the benefits or added value of what you can provide.
Blog – A blog post is something that adds value to your reader. It can be about any subject, can be entertaining or provide useful information that inspires, solve a problem or facts of any topic. A well written blog post will get a lot of free traffic to your site. Blogs are becoming extremely popular. Internet traffic is now at an all time high. If you want to get free blog traffic coming your way, write a blog post that adds value.
Home - This page is often saved under Favourites/Bookmarks by a visitor to your site if he foresees that he may come back to revisit your site. It is useful to put a home button on the pages of the website.
Most websites are designed with one main reason in mind. Really to motivate the visitor to your site to take action. If no action is taken, then the product or services that you are selling/offering will not happen.
Observations of the Internet on local businesses
I have been contracting as a Senior Project Manager for a couple of years and have decided to take a short break to explore the world of the small businesses and how the financial situation impacts their current state of economic viability. I have sat in cafes in a number of local suburbs in Brisbane, drank many cups of coffee and watch the crowd passed by. Some shopping centers are packed with shoppers whilst the local one man shop are pretty quiet during certain hours of the day. The stream of human traffic is almost predictable. I have attempted to make conversations to shop owners and noticed that approximately 60-70% of the local businesses have no clue of what the internet is all about and its invasion/impact that it can do to make or break the business. Some of them have not even used a computer or sent an email. 4 out of 5 local business do not have an online presence, i.e. they do not have a business website. It is vital for businesses to transition from offline to online as it has numerous benefits. Some of the benefits are : 1. Market your brand image. You can promote your value, mission and culture of what your business stands for. 2. Attract potential clients who may be looking for a product or service on the internet without a sales man nagging at the client. 3. Help the business conduct sales promotion without spending excessive $ on advertising.
