As the economy has slowed down, especially last year, a considerable number of businesses have to cut costs and have considered outsourcing to REDUCE massive OVERHEADS. Multi National Corporations e.g. Telecommunications, Internet Service providers, Insurances, and Finance Companies, etc venture into outsourcing by creating contact centers in countries with a lower cost of living and employees that are engaged at a lower income bracket. This is an excellent tactical decision to continue running an efficient business in a meltdown in the global economy.
Outsourcing – It refers to a company that contracts with another company to offer service that are otherwise carry out by in-house employees. Outsourcing also allows companies to focus on other business issues whilst having the day to day operations managed by third party outsourcing company. This means that the dedicated efforts of highly paid employees can be used to handle more important, broader strategic and tactical business matters and leave the mundane repetitive tasks to be managed by lower skilled personnel from the outsourcing organizations.
Though this strategy has been used widely by many large companies, we do know that it has its drawback. In outsourcing, oftentimes it eliminates the direct communication between a company and its clients. This prevents effective communication to be established with their customers and thus, lead to dissatisfied clients. It is therefore vital that organizations that use outsourcing continue to use other methods to keep in touch with their customers, i.e. periodic surveys.

Year of the Tiger – Happy Lunar New Year
Happy New Year of the Tiger – “Gong Xi Fa Cai” Chinese New Year is the longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. The Chinese year 4708 begins on Feb. 14, 2010.
At Chinese New Year celebrations, people wear red clothes which is a symbol of good fortune and success. Houses are decorated with poems written on red paper, lots of potted flowering plants – a symbol of growth and children are given “lucky money” in red envelopes. Red symbolizes fire, which according to legend can drive away bad luck and bring you good fortune. Chinese New Year is a time of family reunion. Family members gather at each other’s homes, especially to the parent’s home for a shared meal, most significantly a reunion feast on New Year’s Eve. It is a time of family togetherness. On New Year’s Day, visitors will bring 2 oranges to wish their relatives and friends prosperity and success in their business, studies, career, etc.
